What The Hidden Root is
The Hidden Root is a discovery and listing platform. We do not sell the products shown on listings and do not process payments between visitors and sellers. Purchases take place directly between the visitor and seller.
Browsing is free
Visitors don't need an account to browse the map, search for products, read reviews, get directions, leave a review, or report a listing.
Seller accounts
Sellers create an account to list a stand. Sellers are responsible for the accuracy of everything on their listing, for following the laws that apply to what they sell (including any state or county rules on food, eggs, dairy, meat, plants, and cottage foods), and for the safety of their own property. Listing a stand on The Hidden Root is not a permit, a license, or an inspection.
Information may not be current
Availability changes fast at a roadside stand. We show when a seller last confirmed their availability so you can judge how fresh the information is. Even so, a stand may be closed, sold out, or unable to accept a particular payment method when you arrive. Please check the listing's last-updated time and plan accordingly.
What you agree not to do
Don't post false, misleading, harassing, hateful, threatening, obscene, or unlawful content. Don't impersonate another person or business. Don't post someone else's private information. Don't systematically scrape, reproduce, republish, or commercially resell our directory or listing data without permission. Don't try to break, overload, or get around the security of the site.
Reviews and reports
Reviews are moderated before they appear publicly. We may decline to publish, or later remove, any review or listing content. Sellers cannot edit, approve, or delete reviews about their own stands; they can flag a review for our review. See the Community & Review Guidelines.
Suspension and removal
We may suspend or remove a listing or an account that breaks these terms, that appears fraudulent or unsafe, or that we're required to remove. A suspended stand stops appearing publicly.
Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and text you submit. By submitting them you give The Hidden Root permission to display, resize, and share them as part of your listing and in ordinary promotion of the site.
No warranty
The site is provided “as is.” We don't warrant that listings are accurate, complete, or currently available, or that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limit of responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, The Hidden Root is not liable for anything that happens between you and a seller, for anything you buy or consume, for travel to or conditions at a stand, or for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to a seller is limited to the subscription fees that seller paid us in the previous 12 months. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll note it on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Tillamook County, Oregon.
